Fall Tryouts

The NVC Board met on June 1 to start planning for the next season. We will not be able to host open gyms this summer, as we did last summer, due to district facility closures.

The fall season starts on the first day of school. The players practice two days per week at school district gyms. We participate in a league held at Midwest Volleyball Warehouse in Burnsville. This usually starts the second Saturday of September (the 12th this year) and goes for 6 consecutive Saturdays except skip MEA break weekend. For fall league, the commitment for competition days is only 2 hours; however, games start anywhere between 7 am and 7 pm and the exact time is not known until the Tuesday before the competition date. The past few seasons, there was one date where some of the teams had to play on a Sunday. Northern Lights has not updated their website for this fall's dates yet, but last year it was the second weekend that was a Saturday OR Sunday play schedule.

We have tentatively set fall season tryouts for Friday, August 21, 2020, 3 - 5 p.m. The date is already on the website calendar and I tagged our past winter teams most likely to attend this tryout. We hope that getting this date out as quickly as possible will aid our families for planning purposes. Last fall, we fielded 3 teams: 7th/8th grade and two 12s teams. We will tentatively plan for the same this season. Players must tryout in order to be placed on a team. If August 21 absolutely does not work, please contact us after registration has opened.

As with everything these days, there is no certainty as to the season. We will be impacted by school district facility use policies and Midwest Volleyball Warehouse league decisions. We do not anticipate having any certainty until at least early August.

Please contact us with questions. Thank you!
